The myth perpetrated by the US media and their pro-Zionist mouthpieces is that there is a fundamental equality between "two" sides of the conflict. As Edward Said so forcefully and eloquently demonstrated, such is not and has never been the case. US foreign policy in the region is about establishing imperialistic control - geopolitical AND geoeconomic, and Israel serves this purpose well as an attack dog of US interests. In many senses what the Zionists are doing to Lebanon is furthering the US agenda, and as such the US government is culpable at a very fundamental level for the atrocities committed by the racists who rule Tel Aviv.
